Shifting a whole organisation from outputs to impact
Bayside City Council · Change Management · Social and Public Welfare
We ran a six-month change program for Bayside City Council, shifting the whole organisation from an outputs mindset to a focus on impact.
The challenge
Bayside City Council wanted more than a new strategy on paper. It wanted to change how the organisation thinks, from measuring outputs (what we did) to focusing on impact (what changed as a result). That kind of mindset shift is the hardest change of all, because it has to land with everyone, from the executive to the front line, not just sit in a leadership plan.
What we did
Over six months we designed and ran a change program to embed an output-to-impact mindset across all levels of the organisation. We worked level by level, cascading the shift so it reached everyone who had to live it, with the language, tools and support to make the new way of thinking stick in everyday decisions, not just in the strategy document.
The impact
Bayside moved from talking about activity to focusing on impact, with a shared mindset cascaded across the organisation rather than confined to the top.
